Flood Warning for the Inland Rivers SA

FLOODWATERS HAVE PEAKED AT COONGIE LAKES, WALKERS CROSSING, AND POOTHAPOOTA WATERHOLE

Creek levels along Cooper Creek at Walkers Crossing and Coongie Lakes peaked during the last week and are now falling slowly. Further upstream, river levels at Cullyamurra Waterhole continue to fall slowly.

The main floodwaters from the Diamantina River flowing into South Australia, are now downstream of Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole. River levels are expected to remain elevated at Poothapoota Waterhole for an extended period of time.

Floodwaters may cut roads and access tracks, and in particular river crossings, impacting travel in the region.

Flood Warnings are current for Eyre Creek, Diamantina River, and Cooper Creek in Queensland.

Warburton

River levels along the Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole peaked at 6.29 m on Thursday 24/04/2025 with flows from the Diamantina River (QLD). Currently, river levels are around 6.22 m and slowly falling.

Cooper Creek

River levels along Cooper Creek at Cullyamurra Waterhole are currently at 8.74 m metres and slowly falling. It is estimated that the water level at Innamincka is many metres above the causeway.
