Minor Flood Warning for the Macalister River Downstream of Lake Glenmaggie
Issued at 6:00 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

No rainfall has been recorded across the Macalister River catchment since 9 am
Tuesday. No significant rainfall is expected during Tuesday and Wednesday,
however further rainfall is possible during Thursday, with rainfall totals of
up to 10 mm in the Macalister River catchment. This rainfall may lead to some
small renewed rises in the Macalister River Catchment.

As a result of rainfall and possible snow melt over the weekend, high stream
levels are currently occurring along the Macalister River downstream of Lake
Glenmaggie.

Macalister Catchment upstream of Lake Glenmaggie
The Macalister River at Glencairn peaked at 3.2 metres around 5:30 am Sunday
morning. The river is currently at 1.39 metres and falling.

Macalister Catchment downstream of Lake Glenmaggie
Southern Rural Water advises that releases from Lake Glenmaggie are currently
at 8,770 ML/d (Minor Flood Flow 7,500 ML/d). High stream levels and areas of
minor flooding will continue downstream of lake Glenmaggie for the remainder of
Tuesday and into Wednesday.

In the interests of community safety the SES suggests following precautions:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
* Don't allow children to play in floodwater,
* Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains, and
* Keep well clear of fallen power lines

Moderate Flood Warning for the Wonnangatta and Mitchell Rivers.
Issued at 5:54 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010

Since 9:00 am Tuesday no rainfall has been recorded in the Mitchell River
catchment. No significant rainfall is expected during Tuesday and Wednesday,
however further rainfall is possible during Thursday, with rainfall totals of
up to 5 to 10 mm in the Mitchell Catchment. This rainfall may lead to some
small renewed rises in the Mitchell Catchment.

Mitchell River upstream of Glenaladale
The Wonnangatta River at Waterford is currently at 3.77 metres (Minor Flood
Level 3.5 metres) and falling slowly. The river is expected to remain above the
minor flood level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Glenaladale
The Mitchell River at Glenaladale is currently at 3.21 metres (Minor Flood
Level 3.0 metres) and falling slowly. The river is expected to remain above the
minor flood level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Bairnsdale
The Mitchell River at Rosehill peaked at 7.95 metres. The river is currently at
7.16 metres and falling slowly.

The Mitchell River at Bairnsdale Pumphouse peaked at around 6.4 metres between
12.00 pm and 2.00 pm Monday. The river is currently falling very slowly and is
expected to fall below the Moderate Flood Level (5.5 metres) overnight Tuesday
into Wednesday.

Moderate Flood Warning for the Yarra River at Yarra Glen
Issued at 5:21 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office in consultation with
Melbourne Water

The Yarra River catchment has received rainfall averaging about 5 mm in both of
the Upper Yarra region and the Lower Yarra Region since 9am yesterday.

Currently the Yarra River at Coldstream (Yarra Grange) is still rising slowly.
The water level at this site has already overtopped its banks, and is expected
to reach its peak around 4.9 m late this afternoon.

The water level in the Yarra River has also breached its bank at Yarra Glen.
Currently the river level is still rising and expected to peak at about 4.7 m
around midnight tonight.

Flooding in the Upper Yarra region around Coldstream and Yarra Glen is causing
inundation in low-lying areas adjacent to the river; in particular bicycle
paths, pedestrian paths and parklands. No roads are affected at this stage.

Final Flood Warning for the Barwon River.

Since 9 am Tuesday no significant rainfall has fallen on the Barwon River
catchment, and no significant rainfall has been forecast for the rest of
Tuesday and Wednesday.

The recorded rainfall combined with wet catchment conditions caused significant
stream rises and areas of minor to moderate flooding in the Leigh and Barwon
Rivers over the last several days. The rivers have now fallen below the minor
flood level and are continuing to recede.

Upper Barwon River
The Barwon River at Ricketts Marsh is currently below the Minor Flood Level
(3.0 metres) and falling.

Pollocksford
The Barwon River at Pollocksford is currently below the Minor Flood Level (3.5
metres) and falling.

Geelong
The Barwon River at Geelong is currently below the Minor Flood Level (2.5
metres) falling slowly.

Minor Flood Warning for the Mitta Mitta Upstream of Dartmouth
Issued at 5:07 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010

No rainfall has been recorded in the Mitta Mitta catchment since 9am this
morning and little rainfall is expected throughout the rest of Tuesday and
Wednesday. Further rainfall is possible on Thursday, with rainfall totals of up
to 30 mm forecast in the Mitta Mitta catchment. This rainfall is expected to
lead to some small renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor flooding in
the upper reaches of the Mitta Mitta catchment.

Mitta Mitta upstream of Dartmouth
The Mitta Mitta River at Hinnomunjie peaked at 3.5 metres (Major Flood Level 3
metres) during Saturday evening. The river is currently at 1.92 metres (Minor
Flood Level 1.8 metres) and falling.

The Big River at Joker Ck peaked at 3.73 metres (Moderate Flood Level 3.7
metres) at around 7 pm Saturday. The river is currently below the Minor Flood
Level (2.8 metres) and falling.

Tallandoon
The Mitta Mitta River at Tallandoon peaked at 4.1 metres (Minor Flood Level
(4.2 metres) around Sunday afternoon and is continuing to fall.

Victoria

Major Flood Warning for the Avoca River
Issued at 4:16 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

No significant rainfall totals have been recorded since 9:00 am Tuesday in the
Avoca River catchment. Little rainfall is expected for the remainder of Tuesday
through Wednesday. However further rainfall is possible on Thursday, with
totals of up to 20 mm forecast in the Avoca Catchment. This rainfall is
expected to lead to some small renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor
flooding in the upper reaches of the Avoca River.


The Avoca River has peaked at Charlton and is falling.

Upstream of Yawong Weir
Avoca River at Archdale Junction is continuing to fall.

Downstream of Yawong Weir
The Avoca River at Yawong Weir fell below the Moderate Flood Level (4.3
metres), around 9am Tuesday, and is continuing to fall. The river is expected
to fall below the Minor Flood Level (3.0 metres) on Wednesday.

Charlton
The Avoca River at Charlton D/S peaked around 7.3 metres (Moderate Flood Level
7.0 metres) around 9pm Monday. The river is expected to fall below the Moderate
Flood Level during Wednesday.

No data is available for the Charlton Town gauge, however it is estimated that
the Charlton Town gauge is currently above the Moderate Flood Level (7.0
metres).

Avoca River at Quambatook is currently at 1.17 metres (Minor Flood Level 2.0
metres) and rising, with a peak around the Major Flood Level (2.4 metres)
expected Friday or Saturday.

In the interests of community safety the SES suggests following precautions:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
* Don't allow children to play in floodwater,
* Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains, and
* Keep well clear of fallen power lines

Moderate Flood Warning for the Wimmera River
Issued at 4:15 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010

REISSUED TO CORRECT NEXT UPDATE TIME

Since 9:00 am Tuesday no rainfall total has been recorded in the Wimmera
catchment. No significant rainfall is expected during the remainder of Tuesday
and into Wednesday, however further rainfall is forecast for Thursday with
rainfall totals of up to 10 to 20 mm possible in the Wimmera Catchment. This
rainfall is expected to lead to renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor
flooding in the upper reaches of the Wimmera Basin.

Stream rises will occur around Horsham for the remainder of Tuesday, with
stream rises occurring downstream of Horsham for the remainder of this week.

Significant flows are present in the Richardson and Avon River systems.

Upstream of Horsham
The Wimmera River at Glenorchy has fallen below the Minor Flood Level (4.0
metres) and is continuing to fall slowly.

Horsham and Quantong Bridge
The Wimmera River at Drung Drung, upstream of Horsham, is currently peaking
around 4.70 metres.
The Wimmera River at Horsham (Walmers) is at 2.87 metres and rising. Further
rises during Tuesday and into Wednesday are expected with a peak of around 3.3
metres on Wednesday expected.


A forecast for Quantong Bridge will be provided once upstream gauges have
peaked.

Major Flood Warning for the Broken River
Issued at 4:10 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010

Since 9 AM Tuesday no rainfall has been recorded across the Broken catchment.
No significant rainfall has been forecast for the rest of Tuesday, however
further rainfall is possible on Thursday with rainfall totals of up to 20 to 30
mm forecast in the Broken Catchment. This rainfall is expected to lead to some
renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor flooding in the upper reaches
of the Broken River and tributaries.

Benalla
Due to technical difficulties no river height observations are available at
Benalla. The model shows that Broken River at Benalla is expected to have
fallen below the Moderate Flood Level (3.7 metres). High stream levels will
continue around and downstream Benalla for the remainder of Tuesday.

Caseys Weir
The Broken River at Caseys Weir peaked at 3.3 metres (Major Flood Level 3.0
metres) around 7 pm Sunday evening. The river is currently at 1.41 metres
(Minor Flood Level 2.1 metres) and falling. Areas of minor flooding downstream
of Caseys Weir will continue for the remainder of Tuesday.

Orrvale
The Broken River at Orrvale is currently peaking at 8.2 metres (Major Flood
Level 7.9 metres). The river is expected to remain above the Major Flood Level
for the remainder of Tuesday.

The Murray River at Bringenbrong is currently below the Moderate Flood Level
(3.4 metres) and falling slowly.

Since 9am Monday no rainfall has been recorded in the Ovens and King River
catchments. Little rainfall is expected during Tuesday and Wednesday, however
further rainfall is possible on Thursday. Rainfall totals of up to 20 to 30mm
are forecast in the Ovens Catchment. This rainfall is expected to lead to some
small renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor flooding in the upper
reaches of the Ovens Basin.

Moderate to Major flooding is occurring in the King and Ovens catchments.

Owens River upstream of Bright
Due to technical problems no observed data is currently available for the
Bright Gauge site. However estimates suggest that moderate flooding will
continue during Tuesday.

Buckland River
The Buckland River at Harris Lane is currently at 2.93 metres and falling. The
river is expected to fall below the Minor Flood Level (2.8 metres) during
Tuesday.

Myrtleford
The Ovens River at Eurobin is currently at 4.94 metres and falling. The river
fell below the Moderate Flood level (5.0 metres) at approximately 12:30 pm
today. The river is expected to fall below the Minor Flood Level (4.5 metres)
in the early hours of Wednesday.

Buffalo River
The Buffalo River downstream of Lake Buffalo fell below the Major Flood Level
(5.0 metres) around midnight Monday, and is continuing to fall. The river is
currently at 4.45 metres (Moderate Flood Level 4.0 metres). Moderate flooding
will continue downstream of Lake Buffalo for the remainder of Tuesday.

Rocky Point
The Ovens River at Rocky Point is currently at 4.14 metres (Moderate Flood
Level 4.4 metres) and continuing to fall. The River is expected to remain above
the minor flood level for the next several days.

Upper King River
The King River at Cheshunt is currently below the Minor Flood Level (1.8
metres) and continuing to fall.

Docker Road
The King River at Docker Road is currently at 4.0 metres (Moderate Flood Level
3.95 metres) and falling very slowly. The river is expected to fall below the
Moderate Flood Level during Tuesday evening, early Wednesday.

Wangaratta
The Ovens River at Wangaratta peaked at 12.80 metres (Major Flood Level 12.7
metres) around 4pm Monday, and is now falling slowly. The river fell below the
Major Flood Level around 1 PM this afternoon. The river is currently at 12.68
metres and expected to remain above the Moderate Flood Level (12.4 metres) for
the remainder of Tuesday.

Major Flood Warning for the Goulburn River
Minor Flood Warning for the Acheron River

Since 9.00 am Tuesday no significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the
Goulburn catchment. Little rainfall is expected for the remainder of Tuesday
and into Wednesday. However further rainfall is possible on Thursday, with
totals of 30 to 40 mm forecast in the Goulburn Catchment. This rainfall is
expected to lead to some small renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor
flooding in the upper reaches of the Goulburn and tributaries.


The main flood waters in the Goulburn Basin are now at Shepparton, and rises
downstream of Shepparton are expected today.

Goulburn tributaries below Eildon and Seymour
The Acheron River at Taggerty fell below the Moderate Flood Level (2.6 metres)
around 9.30 am Monday. The river is currently at 2.35 metres and falling slowly
(Minor Flood Level 2.0 metres). Minor flooding will continue over the next
several days.

Goulburn River Lake Eildon to Seymour
Goulburn River at Trawool peaked at 5.6 metres around 10pm Monday night
(Moderate Flood Level 5.65 metres) and is now falling slowly.

Seymour

metres) around midnight Monday, and is now falling very slowly. It is currently
at 5.24 metres and expected to fall below Moderate Flood Level later today.

Murchison
The Goulburn River at Murchison peaked around 10.1 metres (Moderate Flood Level
10.2 metres) around midnight Monday night, and is now falling slowly.

Seven Creeks at Kialla West
Seven Creeks at Kialla West peaked at around 6.15 metres (Major Flood Level 6.0
metres) Monday night and is now falling slowly. It fell below the Major Flood
Level Tuesday morning and is expected to fall below Moderate Flood Level (5.0
metres) in the coming days.

Broken River at Orrvale
The Broken River at Orrvale is currently peaking at around 8.19 metres (Major
Flood Level 7.9 metres).

Goulburn River at Arcadia Downs
The Goulburn River at Arcadia Downs is currently at 10.61 metres and rising.
The river is expected to exceed the Moderate Flood Level (10.4 metres) during
Tuesday monday. A peak exceeding the Major Flood Level (10.7 metres), is
expected later in the week.

Shepparton
The Goulburn River at Shepparton is currently at 10.66 metres (Minor Flood
Level 9.5 metres) and rising. A peak around 11.1 metres (Major Flood Level 11.0
metres) is expected late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

McCoys Bridge
The Goulburn River at McCoys Bridge is rising and expected to exceed the minor
flood level (9.0 metres) late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Major Flood Warning for the Loddon River
Issued at 3:29 pm EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

Rainfall has eased in the Loddon River catchment, with no significant rainfall
recorded since 9am Tuesday. Rainfall totals of up to 5 mm have been forecast
for overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Stream levels in the Loddon catchment to Laanecoorie reservoir have peaked and
are now below the minor flood level, however further stream rises are expected
in the Loddon catchment downstream of Loddon Weir.

Downstream of Laanecoorie Reservoir
The Loddon River downstream of Laanecoorie peaked at around 6.1 metres (Major
Flood Level 5.5 metres) around midnight Saturday. The river is currently at
2.35 metres (Minor Flood Level 1.5 metres) and falling. The river is expected
to continue falling but remain above the minor flood level overnight Tuesday
into Wednesday.

The Loddon River D/S Loddon Weir peaked at 7.02 metres (Major Flood Level 7.0
metres) during Monday afternoon. The river is currently at 6.76 metres
(Moderate Flood Level 6.0 metres) and falling. The river is expected to remain
above the moderate flood level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Appin South
The Loddon River at Appin South is currently steady at 2.23 metres. Stream
rises are expected to commence at Appin South over the next several days. Early
indications are that the river will peak around the moderate flood level
Thursday into Friday.

Kerang
There will be stream rises on the Loddon River at Kerang in several days as
flood waters make their way downstream from the Loddon Weir. A peak forecast
will be provided once upstream gauges have peaked.

Minor Flood Warning for the Kiewa River
Issued at 11:38 am EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010

No rainfall has been recorded in the Kiewa river catchment since 6pm Monday,
except 0.2 mm at Mt Hotham and Albury early Tuesday morning.

Little rainfall is expected during Tuesday and Wednesday. Further rainfall is
possible on Thursday and Friday, with rainfall totals for each day of up to 30
mm forecast in the Kiewa catchment. This rainfall is expected to lead to some
small renewed stream rises and possible renewed minor flooding in the upper
reaches of the Kiewa catchment.

Stream rises and flooding are occurring in the Kiewa catchment. Flooding is
expected to continue over the next several days.

AGL Hydro advises that releases from storages into the Kiewa River are steady
at around 130 ML/hour.

Mongans Bridge
Kiewa River at Mongans Bridge is currently at 2.63 metres and falling. The
river is expected to continue falling but will remain above the minor flood
level (2.4 metres) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

The main channel of the Kiewa River is currently steady at 3.33 metres (Minor
Flood Level 3.3 metres). The river is expected to remain above the minor flood
level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Bandiana
The Kiewa River at Bandiana is currently at 3.06 metres (Moderate Flood Level
3.1 metres) and falling slowly. The river is expected to remain above Minor
Flood Level (2.7 metres) for several days.

Minor Flood Warning for the Latrobe River downstream of Yallourn

Since 9am Monday an isolated rainfall total of 10 mm has been recorded in the
Latrobe basin. General rainfall totals of less than 5 mm have been recorded.
Rainfall totals of up to 5 mm have been forecast for the rest of Tuesday,
however further rainfall is possible on Thursday with rainfall totals of up to
15 mm forecast in the Latrobe Catchment. This rainfall is
expected to lead to some renewed stream rises in the upper reaches of the
Latrobe River and tributaries.

Latrobe River downstream of Yallourn
The Latrobe River at Thoms Bridge peaked at around 3.8 metres (Minor Flood
Level 4.0 metres) at 7am Monday. The river is currently at 3.32 metres and
falling.

Rosedale
The Latrobe River at Rosedale is currently at 3.82 metres (Minor Flood Level
4.0 metres) and rising. The river is expected to peak around the Minor Flood
Level Tuesday.

Minor Flood Warning for the Thomson River downstream of the Macalister River
Junction

No significant rainfall has been recorded over the Macalister River catchment
in the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday. No significant rainfall is expected during
Tuesday and Wednesday, however further rainfall is possible during Thursday,
with rainfall totals of up to 5 to 10 mm in the Macalister River catchment.
This rainfall may lead to some small renewed rises in the Macalister River
Catchment.

As a result of the minor to moderate flood flow releases from Lake Glenmaggie
during Sunday and into Monday high stream levels and minor flooding are

MINOR TO MODERATE FLOOD WARNING FOR RURAL AREAS ALONG THE MURRAY RIVER
DOWNSTREAM OF HUME DAM

Minor to moderate flooding of rural areas and forests is expected along the
Murray River downstream of the Hume Dam following recent widespread rainfalls
over north east Victoria.

Predicted River Heights/Flows:
Albury - remain below minor flood level

Corowa - peak near 4 metres Thursday 9/9/10 with minor rural flooding.

Yarrawonga Weir D/S - peak near 6.9 metres Wednesday morning with moderate
flooding

Tocumwal - exceed minor flood level (6.4 metres) Thursday morning
- reach moderate flood level (6.7 metres) late Thursday/Friday

Deniliquin - reach 6.5 metres around 19/9/10 with minor rural flooding

Echuca / Moama - reach 94 metres (AHD) around 15/9/10 with moderate rural
flooding

Barham - reach 5.9 metres around 19/9/10 with moderate rural flooding

In the interests of community safety the SES suggests following precautions:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
* Don't allow children to play in floodwater,
* Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains, and
* Keep well clear of fallen power lines

cold front will approach western Victoria later on Wednesday before weakening
and slipping southwards Thursday morning. A stronger cold front will approach
Victoria later Thursday and will sweep across the State Friday morning.

Patches of morning frost and fog, then a mostly sunny day.

Minor Flood Warning for the Glenelg River
Issued at 9:48 am EST on Tuesday 7 September 2010
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian Regional Office

No significant rainfall has been recorded in the Glenelg River catchment since
9am Monday.

Minor flooding is continuing along the Glenelg River between Dergholm and
Casterton

Dergholm
Glenelg River at Dergholm peaked around 4.0 metres during Monday, and has now
fallen below the minor flood level (3.7 metres).

Casterton
A peak around 4.2 metres is expected at Casterton later Tuesday (minor flood
level 3.8 metres).
